Orthodontics

There are now many options in straightening your teeth to give you a nicer smile.  It used to be that the only option was brackets, bands and wires.  Not so any more.  With the advancements in dentistry we can now align teeth with a series of clear “invisible” retainers.  Many times, this treatment can be completed more quickly than traditional bands, brackets and wires.  It also used to be that braces were only for teenagers.  Today, many adults benefit from orthodontics to help straighten a smile, reduce tooth wear, or to help restore a collapsed bite.

At Dr. Matthews office we can use either traditional braces or the Clear Correct “invisible” retainer system to accomplish your desired result.

Implants

A dental implant is a screw like component that is placed into the bone where a missing tooth used to be.  Once it integrated into the bone a dentist can place a crown on the implant to replace the missing tooth.  Another way implants are used is to place 2 or more in the jaw when all the teeth are missing.  Then the dentist can attach a full denture onto the implants helping the denture to become more stable and firm.  Dental implants are the most effective way of replacing missing teeth while not damaging adjacent teeth.

If you have missing teeth and have been thinking about replacing them, Dr. Matthews can help you decide if implants are the way to go.

Endodontics (Root Canals)

It’s necessary to have endodontic or root canal treatment when the inside of your tooth (the pulp) becomes inflamed or infected as a result of deep decay, repeated dental procedures, faulty crowns or a crack or chip in the tooth. Treatment includes drilling into the area where the nerve is, removing the nerve and blood vessels within the pulp chamber and canals, disinfect the chamber and canals and then seal the canals with dental material.  Usually, after a root canal is performed a filling and crown in needed to help keep the tooth in a stable and healthy state.

CEREC Same Day Crowns

Traditionally, when you needed a crown, you would go to the dentist one day and he would cut on the tooth, take a messy impression, put a temporary on and then 3 weeks later come back where the dentist would maybe have to give you another shot, take the temporary off (if it hasn’t already fallen off or broken), to then cement on the final crown.  With CEREC, Dr. Matthews can do everything needed for a crown from start to finish at the same appointment.  No more messy gagging impressions. No more ill-fitting rough temporaries that don’t stay on.  No more having to miss 2 days of work.

CEREC same day crowns are porcelain crowns that are as strong and accurate as lab made crowns. !
